Where are you located?
I’m based in Orange County, California, but I’m willing to travel for your special day : )
What do I need to do to book you?
Awesome : )! First, check with me to make sure your date is still available. For wedding, a non-refundable retainer fee and signed contract are required in order to secure your date. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior the event date. For any other types of shoot, the payment needs to be paid in full 1 week prior the session!
When will I receive my photos?
We will upload a sneak peek photo to our Facebook Page either on the day of or the week of the shoot to ease the anticipation a little bit! For weddings, the turnaround time is about 7-10 weeks depending on the season, and for portrait sessions, it will take about 2-4 weeks!
Can I share your images on Facebook?
Of course!! One of my favorite things to see is when clients use my images as their profile pictures! You are also welcome to share it on your blogs or other social media, just remember to credit Sylvia Chen Photography along with either a link/tag to our Facebook Page (facebook.com/sylviachenphotography), our website (www.sylviachenphotography.com), or our Instagram account (sylviachenphotography).
How should I dress for our lifestyle or engagement session?
I’m a big fan of simplicity! I’d recommend solid/plain colors instead of messy designs or logos! You can also email me with the outfits you have in mind, and I will provide you with my honest opinions and help you pick out the perfect ones for your session. Props are always fun! I love it when clients bring props that are meaningful to their relationships or their own personal journey, it makes it so much more intimate and unique!
How would you describe your style?
My style is a combination of natural, sweet, and editorial. I like to pay attention to the overall vibe I get from my clients and translate that into how I edit my images. Natural lighting provides a sense of intimacy and warmth to photographs, and that is why I do most of my shoots without any artificial lighting!
I’ve never been in front of the camera before, will that be a problem?
Most definitely not! A lot of my clients are first timers at modeling or being in front of the camera, and they all end up loving the photos! I will teach you everything you need to know so don’t worry. The key is to be yourself : )
